I was explaining to my mother how the age lock works on television. There's a four-digit code, I said. Without it, the 18-rated film won't play.

She's 79 and she sits on our advisory board, so she asked the follow-up question first:

"Where do you type it in?"

On the TV, I said. With the remote.

She looked at the television, then at me:

"In front of the child?"

Five words.

She's four. She can barely read yet. But she can watch, and she can count — she's known her digits for a year now, and a remote control moves slowly enough to follow.

Every serious system in this field is being rebuilt around the principle that the proof must never be something someone can observe and repeat. Except this one. This one is a number, on a huge screen, in a room with children in it.

If Oma understands it, everyone does.

hashID is how you get to be yourself, without having to explain yourself.
And you live it every day. With your people. And with everything you do.
